Hong Duc University Signs Strategic Partnership with School of Materials Science and Engineering – Hanoi University of Science and Technology"

On June 19, 2025, a delegation from Hong Duc University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Van Dung – Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector, paid a working visit to the School of Materials Science and Engineering – Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST).

The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Dr. Huynh Trung Hai – President of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, together with representatives from the school's Board of Management and relevant departments. During the meeting, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions about strategic directions for training and scientific research in the fields of semiconductor technology and microelectronics – areas receiving significant investment and attention in the era of Industry 4.0.

Currently, the School of Materials Science and Engineering – HUST is recognized as a leading institution in Vietnam for advanced materials research and training. The school operates over 10 specialized laboratories focused on semiconductor materials, nanomaterials, electronic and optoelectronic materials, microelectronic technology, magnetic and superconducting materials, among others. These laboratories not only support fundamental research but also implement national-level scientific and applied technology projects, and collaborate with industry partners in areas such as microchip manufacturing, smart sensors, and renewable energy materials.

During the visit, Hong Duc University and the School of Materials Science and Engineering formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a strong commitment to long-term cooperation and sustainable development. According to the MoU, both institutions will collaborate on building training programs in semiconductors, microelectronics, and semiconductor materials for undergraduate and graduate students; co-organize short-term training courses and workshops for faculty and students; facilitate student internships and research activities at the School of Materials Science and Engineering' advanced laboratories; and jointly propose research topics and projects at provincial, national, and international levels.

Potential areas for joint research identified include: development of advanced materials for the semiconductor industry; application of nanomaterials in biomedical devices and environmental monitoring; development of smart sensors and energy storage materials; and technology transfer in the manufacturing of microelectronic components and semiconductor chips adapted to Vietnam's conditions.

This cooperation agreement represents a significant step forward in the partnership between the two higher education institutions. It also opens up major opportunities for Hong Duc University to access cutting-edge technologies, foster digital transformation in training and research, and enhance the quality of human resources in high-tech fields – especially in the semiconductor industry, which has been designated as a key national sector by the Vietnamese Government.
