The University’s Leaders Present Flowers in Appreciation to Former Leaders Across Different Periods
The gathering was honored to welcome distinguished former leaders, including: Meritorious Teacher Dr. Cao Danh Đằng – the first President of the University; Dr. Nguyễn Văn Phát – Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Union of Science and Technology Associations, former Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Party Committee, former Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, former Secretary of the Party Committee, former President; Meritorious Teacher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Mạnh An – former Provincial Party Committee Member, former Director of the Department of Science and Technology, former Secretary of the Party Committee, former President; Dr. Hoàng Nam – former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Acting President; Meritorious Teacher Dr. Nguyễn Song Hoan – former Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, former Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Hữu Cần – former Vice President; and MSc. Nguyễn Xuân Song – Chairman of the Alumni Teachers’ Association, former Chairman of the Trade Union (tenure V, VI).

Representing Hong Duc University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Viết Báu, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Văn Dũng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đậu Bá Thìn and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngô Chí Thành, Members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, along with leaders of affiliated units and university-level unions.

Speaking at the event, President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Văn Dũng expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the former leaders who devoted their wisdom, dedication, and vision to laying the foundation for the University's establishment and nearly 30 years of continuous development. He emphasized that each developmental stage of Hong Duc University bears the imprint of contributions from generations of educators and leaders. Their valuable experience and strategic orientations continue to serve as guiding principles for the current leadership in building the University into a prestigious center for training and scientific research in the province and the region.
“HDU is entering a period of strong transformation, focusing on modernizing university governance, improving academic quality, expanding international cooperation, and developing an innovation–research ecosystem to affirm the University's unique identity and brand. We look forward to continued support, companionship, and wisdom from former leaders so that the University may advance confidently and sustainably,” President Bùi Văn Dũng affirmed.
At the end of his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Van Dung, President of the University, extended his best wishes for health and happiness to the former leaders. He also expressed his hope that the spirit of solidarity, dedication, and deep bond among generations will continue to serve as a powerful source of motivation for Hong Duc University to achieve increasingly comprehensive and sustainable development.

In a warm and respectful atmosphere, former leaders reminisced about the early, challenging years of establishing Hong Duc University, highlighting that solidarity and perseverance were the essential foundations for the University’s achievements today. They also expressed joy at the remarkable improvements in infrastructure, academic quality, and the growth of the teaching staff in recent years.
During the discussion, many insightful recommendations were shared, focusing on strategic development for the new period—particularly the need to modernize governance models, promote digital transformation in teaching, research, and management, enhance cooperation with domestic and international partners, and develop training programs linked to high-quality human resource needs in Thanh Hoa and the region.

Participants also emphasized the importance of standardizing and fostering the teaching staff; building a healthy, innovative academic environment; and strengthening research capacity, especially in high-application fields. In addition, equipping students with essential skills, professional ethics, and global integration capabilities was highlighted as a key task in enhancing graduate competitiveness.
The exchange reflected the trust and high expectations of former leaders toward the current University Board of Presidents, with hopes that Hong Duc University will continue to develop sustainably and affirm its prestige within Vietnam’s higher education system.
