Hong Duc University Students Say "No" to Drugs

11/06/2025

Drug abuse poses a serious threat to individuals, families, and society. It not only deteriorates moral values and destroys health and intellect, but also contributes to rising crime rates, jeopardizing public security and the sustainable development of the nation. Combating drug abuse is not solely the responsibility of authorities; it requires the active involvement of the entire community—especially the younger generation, who represent the future of our country

Hidden Dangers and Devastating Consequences of Drug Abuse

In today’s reality, drugs are becoming increasingly diverse in form, low in cost, easy to use, and often disguised in sophisticated ways. Alarmingly, many new types of synthetic drugs are now being mixed into food and beverages, targeting students even within educational environments. Substances like crystal meth, ecstasy, and synthetic marijuana (“Spice”) can cause rapid addiction, destroy brain function, affect the nervous system, and drastically alter the behavior of users.

Some young people mistakenly believe that using synthetic drugs for recreational purposes is harmless and non-addictive. This is a dangerous misconception. Once a person falls into drug use, the consequences can be unpredictable and severe. Drug addiction not only leads to serious health issues, including the risk of HIV/AIDS from shared needles or unsafe sexual behavior, but also brings numerous social problems such as theft, robbery, and prostitution.

Hong Duc University Takes the Lead in School-based Drug Prevention

Recognizing the critical importance of drug prevention in educational settings, Hong Duc University has actively implemented a wide range of legal education and awareness activities for students over the years. Drug prevention content is regularly integrated into key programs such as orientation week for new students, current affairs briefings, and law compliance commitment conferences on public security and traffic safety.

These efforts are carried out in close coordination with Thanh Hoa Provincial Police and Thanh Hoa City Police, helping provide practical information and enhance students’ awareness and responsibility in the fight against drug abuse.
