As part of a series of activities to celebrate Hong Duc University’s 25th anniversary (September 24th 1997 - September 24th 2022) on September 23, 2022, Hong Duc University in collaboration with Greifswald University, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, DCG Institute of International Education (Federal Republic of Germany) and XpRienz-Singapore & XpRienz-Vietnam organized an international scientific conference titled: "Local socio-economic development in the post-Covid-19 period"
Attending the seminar were scientists from universities and research institutes from the Federal Republic of Germany: Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Steingrube - Former Director of the Institute of Socio-Economic Geography, University of Greifswald; Prof. Dr. Donner - Dean of Faculty of Economics, Prof. Dr. Scott – MBA Program Director – Vice Dean of Economics, Prof. Dr. Gülbay – Peischart – Economic Law/Professor of Economic Law, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences; Mr. Michael Rückert – Director of the DCG Institute of International Education. Mr. Tan Choo Kok (Anderson Tan) - Director of XpRienz-Singapore and XpRienz-Vietnam as well as Prof. Dr. Cao Long Van - Zielona Gora University, Poland.
Representatives of universities and colleges from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam included Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Council of Tan Trao University; Dr. Do Tung - Vice President of Hung Vuong University; Dr. Ho Thi Nga - Vice Rector of Ha Tinh University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hoang Ba Huyen - Rector of Thanh Hoa Agricultural College, former Vice Rector of Hong Duc University; and Dr. Dong Huong Lan, Vice Rector of Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Representatives of agencies, departments and businesses in Thanh Hoa province also had presentations.
From Hong Duc University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Van Dung – Rector; members in the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the Board of Managers; leaders of affiliated departments, functional departments and faculty members and a large number of students throughout the University also attended.
The conference organizers received nearly 50 papers and presentations from scientists, as well as international organizations at home and abroad. In general, the papers had high scientific content, novelty and creativity, and were presented by the authors from many different angles and aspects related to mechanisms, policies, solutions for local socio-economic development in the post-Covid-19 period; cultural and social issues (education, culture, sociology...); developing different types of tourism, building brands of local products; regional linkage issues, exploiting local potentials and comparative advantages; issues on local economic institutions, management innovation, digital transformation, and the role of higher education institutions in local socio-economic development.
Presenting at the seminar, Mr. Tan Choo Kok (Anderson Tan) - Director of XpRienz-Singapore and XpRienz-Vietnam discussed the issue of "Startup Ecosystem - Lessons learned for emerging markets". Accordingly, Mr. Anderson Tan clarified "Why is the startup ecosystem important?" A brief look at the startup ecosystem in Singapore and lessons learned from this startup ecosystem were also analyzed. On that basis, Mr. Anderson Tan launched “7 StartupSG” initiatives to promote startups as they embark on their entrepreneurial journey.
Prof. Dr. Scott – MBA Program Director – Vice Dean of Economics from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences was interested in and shared about “The role of universities in the socio-economic development of the locality during post-Covid-19 period: Example from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences”. By discussing specific examples of difficulties and challenges in cooperation between localities with Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Dr. Scott offered possible solutions to the challenges and pointed out the university's role and prospects in linking and cooperating for local socio-economic development in the post-Covid-19 period.
Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Steingrube from the University of Greifswald presented "Analysis of satisfaction and relationship between people in Protected Areas - Experience from the Polish-German Cross-Border Project during Covid-19". Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Steingrube shared information about the project “Cross-border cooperation between universities and large-scale protected areas” carried out from 2018 to 2022, funded by the European Union from the Development Fund. Regional development of Europe in cooperation with 4 universities and 9 protected areas as joint partners was a focal point of the presentation.
Thereby, Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Steingrube analyzed satisfaction, the relationship between parks and people in protected areas, and at the same time drew lessons learned during the implementation of this project.
Initial results of the workshop have been recognized as theoretical and practical basis. At the same time, it has made valuable conclusions and recommendations for Hong Duc University, businesses and localities in the coming time.
