Hong Duc University organized a meeting and seminar to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 – December 2, 2024)

To further strengthen the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos and create a joyful and encouraging atmosphere for Lao international students to feel secure in their studies, on the morning of December 2, 2024, Hong Duc University organized a meeting and seminar to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 – December 2, 2024) for Lao students currently studying at the university.

Attending the seminar were Mr. Le Hong Ngoan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Thanh Hoa Province; Mr. Nguyen Huy Toi, Standing Member and General Secretary of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Thanh Hoa Province; representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Thanh Hoa City.

On behalf of Hong Duc University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Chi Thanh, Vice Rector, was present, along with representatives from departments and faculties, representatives from the Youth Union and Student Association, and all Lao international students currently studying at the university.

Forty-nine years ago, on December 2, 1975, the Lao People's Democratic Republic was established, marking the end of a long and arduous but glorious struggle by the Lao people. This event opened a new era, an era where the people truly took control of their destiny and fully governed their independent and free nation.

Over the past 49 years, under the sound leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the people of the Lao ethnic groups have achieved significant, comprehensive, and meaningful accomplishments in the cause of building, developing, and protecting their nation. Today, the Lao People's Democratic Republic has undergone positive transformations in all aspects, making strong strides toward prosperity and development. The living standards of the Lao people have continuously improved, foreign relations have expanded, and the nation's role and position on the international stage have steadily risen.

The celebration of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic is an opportunity to once again affirm the strong, faithful, and heartfelt bond between the two nations, united in their shared struggle for independence, freedom, and social progress.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Chi Thanh, Vice Rector of the University, delivered a speech at the meeting and seminar program.

He revisited the history of the steadfast and special relationship between the Parties, States, and peoples of Vietnam and Laos in general, and the strong, close-knit friendship and solidarity between Thanh Hoa Province and Houaphanh Province in particular. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Chi Thanh also expressed the leadership's hopes and expectations for the Lao students studying at Hong Duc University. He encouraged them to further enhance their sense of discipline, work diligently and creatively in their studies, and actively train themselves to become skilled and high-qualified professionals who can serve their homeland, Laos, and contribute to strengthening the bonds between Thanh Hoa and Houaphanh, as well as between the two countries and peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

Additionally, he hoped that the Lao students would become exemplary pioneers and active promoters, spreading awareness among the Lao people, especially the younger generation, about the tradition of special solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. He also encouraged them to introduce the dynamic learning environment and diverse academic programs at Hong Duc University, creating more opportunities for Lao students and officials to study and conduct research at the university.

Mr. Le Hong Ngoan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Thanh Hoa Province, shared his thoughts during the program.

Speaking at the meeting and seminar, Mr. Le Hong Ngoan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Thanh Hoa Province, revisited the history of the establishment of Laos' National Day. He expressed his hope that Lao students at Hong Duc University would take responsibility for inheriting, preserving, and strengthening this special friendship. He encouraged them to strive for excellence in their studies and training, so that after graduation, they could return to contribute to the development and prosperity of their homeland.

Lao student Phoumee Viphommaxai, from K25 Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, shared his thoughts at the meeting and seminar.

On behalf of the Lao international students, Phoumee Viphommaxai from K25 Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, expressed his deep emotions and heartfelt gratitude for the care and support, both materially and spiritually, extended by the Party Committee, the Board of Management, and the faculty members of Hong Duc University to the Lao students studying at the university. He emphasized that this support serves as valuable preparation for their future. Upon completing their studies and returning home, each student will strive to excel in their work and actively contribute to preserving and fostering the everlasting friendship and strong relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The leaders of the Faculty of Primary Education and the Faculty of Social Sciences extended their congratulations to the Lao international students on the occasion of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Over the years, Hong Duc University has placed special emphasis on training and fostering human resources for Laos in general and Houaphanh Province in particular. More than 1,000 students and trainees have graduated from the university, many of whom have taken on key leadership positions in the government apparatus of Houaphanh Province and other provinces in Laos.

Currently, the university is training 92 Lao international students, including 22 students enrolled in master's programs and bridging programs, and 70 students in undergraduate programs across various fields such as Education, Economics and Business Administration, Law, Engineering and Technology, Information Technology, and Agriculture-Forestry-Fisheries.
