For many Lao students, the first days in Vietnam come with challenges—language barriers, unfamiliar learning methods, and a new pace of life. Understanding these difficulties, Hong Duc University has adopted a thoughtful and student-centered approach, beginning with foundational support and gradually helping students adapt and grow.
Vietnamese language training serves as the key to integration. Flexible and tailored programs are designed to meet different learners’ needs, enabling students to gain confidence in using the language before entering their specialized studies. In the classroom, knowledge is delivered with dedication and care, using accessible and engaging teaching methods that help students overcome initial obstacles.

Support extends far beyond academic activities. From accommodation arrangements and daily life guidance to timely assistance with personal challenges, the university fosters a spirit of care and companionship. The dormitory for Lao students is not just a place to live, but a shared space where they can study, connect, and feel at home.
Taling Khammavong, a K28 Accounting student from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, shared that continuous support from lecturers and the university has been essential to his academic journey.
“During my studies, I always receive detailed guidance from my teachers, especially when facing difficult subjects. The university also creates opportunities for us to participate in exchange activities, which help us become more confident in communication and learning,” he said.
Beyond academics, Taling also highlighted the university’s attention to students’ daily lives, including accommodation, living conditions, and cultural activities. These efforts help students feel secure and committed to their studies.
“Studying at Hong Duc University is a meaningful experience that helps me grow and better understand Vietnamese people and culture,” he added.

Thanks to such a supportive environment, many Lao students have achieved strong academic results and developed essential skills, preparing them to contribute to their home country upon graduation.
Alongside academic training, student life at Hong Duc University plays a vital role in fostering connections between Vietnamese and Lao students.
Cultural, artistic, and sports exchange activities are regularly organized, creating opportunities for students from both countries to share experiences, learn from each other, and build lasting friendships. These interactions help bridge cultural and linguistic gaps, replacing them with confidence and mutual understanding.
Traditional festivals are particularly meaningful. For Lao students, celebrating Bunpimay (Lao New Year) in Vietnam, with the care of teachers and friends, not only eases homesickness but also creates cherished memories during their student life.

Through these everyday experiences, friendship becomes tangible—expressed through shared stories, warm greetings, and genuine connections. Many Lao graduates return home to work in various sectors while maintaining strong ties with Vietnam. They carry not only knowledge but also the deep affection formed during their time at the university, becoming important bridges that strengthen bilateral relations.

It also enhances cooperation between Thanh Hoa province and Houaphanh province—a relationship rooted in history and nurtured across generations.
From this educational environment, the values of connection and cooperation continue to grow, laying a strong foundation for sustainable partnership in the future.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Hoang Ba Huyen, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Hong Duc University, emphasized that educating Lao students is not only an academic mission but also a responsibility in strengthening the Vietnam–Laos special relationship.
In the coming years, the university will continue to innovate its training programs, enhance language and learning support, and promote cultural exchange activities to help Lao students integrate more effectively.
“Each graduate will serve as a bridge, contributing to the preservation and development of the friendship between our two nations,” he affirmed.
