The Evaluation Council consisted of seven members, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Huan from the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Attending the meeting were representatives from the Department of Science, Technology & International Cooperation Office, alongside members of the research team.
The research team successfully completed all deliverables as outlined in the proposal, including:
A comprehensive report assessing the diversity of valuable fish species.
A database on the morphological characteristics and distribution of rare fish species.
A set of proposed conservation solutions for local fish resources.
Additionally, the project achieved two scientific publications (one international article indexed in Scopus Q3, and one domestic article recognized by the National Professor Council) and contributed to the training of one doctoral candidate. Some research outcomes even exceeded the initially set targets.
The study recorded 154 fish species belonging to 57 families and 21 orders, of which 53 species hold high economic value. These findings provide an important reference for fisheries research in Vietnam and enrich the training resources for students and postgraduate learners in Zoology at Hong Duc University.
From a practical perspective, the research highlights the ecological and economic importance of fish resources in the lower Ma River basin. The results provide a scientific foundation for sustainable management, exploitation, and aquaculture development. Importantly, the team proposed three groups of conservation solutions that are timely and relevant in the context of declining fish habitats.
The Evaluation Council unanimously rated the project as Pass, recognizing the team’s dedication and scientific rigor. The Council also recommended refining certain details in the final report to improve accuracy and consistency.
The outcomes of this project will be transferred to Hong Duc University to support academic training and research, and will also be provided to the Thanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Environment along with relevant management agencies, contributing to the conservation and sustainable use of local aquatic resources.
